In 2023, Nina really got into reading/audiobooks more so than years past. So she wanted to share her top 10 reads that helped her evolve, or just gave her a really great escape into another world!
What I Know For Sure – Oprah Winfrey
Narrated by Oprah herself, this book shows us the power of overcoming that which we let ourselves hold us back. The power of OWNING who you are, at whatever age and stage you are in, with knowing that you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
Never Enough – Jennifer Breheny Wallace
This book really spoke to the rat race that we enroll our children in, with the BEST of intentions in mind. It makes us question, what really HELPS our children thrive, what do they really NEED to get to the next phase of their lives, and does overachievement really equal happiness.
The Gap and The Gain – Dan Sullivan & Benjamin Hardy
We are ever so willing to remind ourselves of our lacks, our never ending task lists that we did not complete, our inability to keep up with the Joneses, and how we still aren’t “there” yet. However, this book sheds light on measuring backwards, and how FAR we have come, and how much we HAVE completed, and how we ARE “there”. Fantastic in reframing our internal dialogue with a positive spin!
This book really pushes us to think about how we navigate life and how we approach our children’s thoughts and questions. It speaks to being curious about EVERYTHING, from a little seed to a business strategy. Great read for those looking to gain a deeper understanding of their children and self journey.
Greenlights – Matthew McConaughey
Ahhh, what can I say about this guy. His voice is just mesmerizing. But that aside, Matt really makes us see that there are opportunities (Greenlights) all around us. It is up to us to recognize them, say yes to them, learn from them, and grow from them. Hearing his journey through his greenlights was quite inspiring.
This book reminds us that we are not going to leave this world with anything except our memories, literally. So he lays out a very actionable plan on how to maximize our time on earth, in the most ideal ways, and then live our lives to the fullest so that when that day comes, we will have maximized our memory dividends!
This book is presented through relationships, but comes down to the 20/20/20 rule. There are a lot of lessons on maximizing one’s potential that are taught throughout this tiny book. It is all about discipline, only having the best of the best, and the 20/20/20 rule. Are you up for joining the elite? (Nina’s still working on it)…
This book was incredible in that it showed us how we are all truly educated in our lives. It is not about our classrooms and tests, rather about our life experiences that help create our toolbox of resilience, perseverance, discipline, hope, character, and so on. Tara’s story is so captivating, and the fact that it is true, blew Nina away!
The Power of Now – Ekhart Tolle
This is the 4th time Nina is reading this book, but it is so powerful in its message which is to be present. It answers so many questions about how to be present, what we have control over, how things simply are and how we create meaning around them. This is a book that will inspire you to live in the moments you have been given, and not worry about judging people, places, events, experiences – but rather just know that they are as they are.
Well Behaved Indian Women – Saumya Dave
OMG – for any 1st generation Indian girl who grew up in the US, this is a story for you! Saumya literally speaks to our childhoods, our memories, our hardships, our yearning to just fit in. It’s a trip down memory lane, the good, the hard, and the comforting love that ties us all together!
