Indian Designers on Top

abujanigrid1

Because we are fashion obsessed (especially with renewing our runway) we are always looking to the Indian designers for inspiration. Lately these Indian designers have been killing it on the runway with their modern yet traditional and unique designs. We feel a sense of pride that designers from our mother country have stepped up their game so much. Our friends are always asking us for our clothing recommendations or what we are inspired by lately so we thought we would share some of it here today.

With all the award shows that have passed and are coming up, all the celebrity fashion is on the forefront for us. We mainly love watching the red carpet to see what everyone is wearing. With the Indian fashion taking it up so many steps, we find ourselves wondering why celebrities like Priyanka Chopra don’t represent our designers on the American red carpet…

There are many seasoned Indian clothing designers that have made a mark for themselves like Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, Shyamal & Bhumika, Payal Singhal, Varun Bahl, Tarun Tahiliani and more. There are also SOOOO many upcoming designers or designers that are under the grid that get looked past but have some amazing clothes. Here is a little glimpse of our current favorites…

The amazing outfits above have been flaunted around town by A-list actresses and are made and designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The above shots are part of their international collection, which did happen to make their way to the American red carpet by a few of the celebrities. We love how they included the indian elements of mirrors and thread work in gorgeous dresses. We are also obsessed with these saris by them. They are everything from edgy to traditional and in between with the perfect amount of each per design.

Sheena has been OBSESSED with everything Anamika Khanna right now. These are just a smallllllll sampling of some of the amazing work she does. Her clothing ranges from traditional to ultra modern but all with unique cuts to them. She does the jacket with a sari, dhoti pants with long jacket and lace capes perfectly. Her clothing is sported a lot by Sonam Kapoor and we all know what a fashionista she is!

How gorgeous are these outfits? Anand Kabra is the designer of this line We are loving the funky prints and fabrics with simple pairings. The lace jacket with the sari is also a simple and elegant way to edge up the look. We are sure that you could find a million ways to wear that jacket on its own too – with jeans, a skirt, ohhhh the possibilities!

This yellow piece is by Ridhi Mehra, a fun cut on top with a little black thread work to add dimension. The red gown is so simple with the perfect cutouts to give that sexy edge, a piece by Ridhima Bhasin. The final two are also by Ridhima Bhasin and such pretty colors for a daytime event. The attached dupatta is a gorgeous and elegant look as well.

These long jackets are just stunning and something that is receiving the full limelight right now. (PS. Dipti designed and wore something veryyyy similar to her wedding reception as well!! – maybe she has a secret career in the making!) The first two looks are by Manish Malhotra and the third look is by Anamika Khanna.

gauravguptagrid1

Gaurav Gupta is just on another level. His pieces are ultra ultra modern but with a slight touch if anything of Indian flare. His looks are edgy, sleek and eye catches. Love his pieces lately too. And the colors are simply exhilarating – royal tones adding to the royal looks!

We absolutely love Jade by Monica & Karishma! Their pieces are beautifully traditional and elegant. Their work is so precise and the colors and fabrics they use are stunning for any event. We are especially loving these cute blouse tops on these flare skirts that they have been incorporating into their collection lately. Again, so many ways to multi-purpose the tops and skirts on their own!

nikhilthampigrid1

Here is another set of stunners! Nikhil Thampi, another edgy but classy designer that has made a mark on the board with his clothing. We are especially loving these gold hues paired with solid colors!

nikitadgrid1

These pretty pieces are by Nikita Mhaisalkar. They are gorgeous, whimsical looks that can be worn to any low key or daytime event.

payalkhandwalagrid1

Payal Khandwala does an interesting Indo-Western mix here that pairs so perfectly. Sweaters, camis and vests paired with an Indian touch. The use of the traditional silk sari fabrics bring so much to each piece!

payalsinghalgrid1

Payal Singhal is one of our all time favorites! Her simple and classy style never fails. Her use of different fabrics and cuts makes each outfit unique in itself. You can never go wrong with any of her outfits, they work for any event at any time!

ridhimabasingrid1These looks are by Ridhima Bhasin. We love the fitted waistline on these that tend to be incredibly flattering. The hush tones, make these simple but speak volumes.

varunbahlgrid1

Varun Bahl Couture also speaks for itself. He is one of the leading Indian designers and his work is not only above and beyond in quality and design, it also can make any women feel like a princess.

These are just a line up of what we have been crushing over for the past few months by these designers. We follow them all on Instagram and love seeing what next new things they will dish out. Most of these designers also have their contact information on their Instagram profiles with their WhatsApp numbers incase anyone wants to contact them about their clothes.

Most of these outfit images came from Pinterest – we have also tagged most of them on the Runways & Rattles Pinterest Boards and are always adding more as we fall in love over and over again! Make sure to follow our board for our latest inspirations! We have also tagged each designers’ instagram account above if you want to follow their work.
